Shakespeare old english8/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Entire Play Macbeth, set primarily in Scotland, mixes witchcraft, prophecy, and murder. It was indeed so flourishing that there was a second Original Pronunciation production of Troilus and Cressida in the following year. ![]() The Globe producers of Romeo and Juliet thought that nobody would understand that original accent but it was a very successful occasion. The first play which was performed in Original Pronunciation, Shakespeare’s 400 year old accent, was not until 2004, though. The first Globe Theatre burned down in 1613 during a performance of Henry VII and was reopened in 1994. It is known for its original practices and always uses authentic costumes, music, instruments and movements around the stage. Regarding the lexis, many words were mostly borrowed from Latin and French because English was seen as an informal language and not sufficient enough to express new terms in the fields of religion, science, music and theology. It was not only the grammar that changed during the Shakespearian time. However, this feature was in decline by the late 17th century. People copied this from French where vous was used in that way. In Old English, thou was singular and you was plural, but during the 13th century, you started being used as a polite form of the singular. Generally speaking, thou was used by superiors, whilst you had to be used by inferiors. The two pronouns were used as a marker of social difference. READ MORE: Why English is Considered the Language of the Skies In addition, there was a distinction between the second person singular pronoun thou and you. There was a continuous use of the inflection on verbs in combination with the second person singular present, for instance thou knowst (= you know). However, some differences were still noticeable. Furthermore, adverbs were now formed with a suffix (e.g. Negatives were no longer marked with the older ‘ne’ but instead by ‘not’.Īdjectives started appearing in comparative and superlative forms, using the suffix as a marker of comparatives (e.g. While the use of the apostrophe for genitive expressions was not fully established until the 18th century, Shakespeare used it in his plays. The plural and possessive were already markers on nouns, for instance change s and lover ’s perjuries. A 16th-century shiftīy the end of the 16th century, the English language had changed significantly from Middle English, and was in many respects very close to what we speak today. It falls between two major linguistic stages in the history of English: Middle English, the language written and spoken during the Middle Ages, most famously by Chaucer, and Modern English, the language we write and speak today. The language spoken during this period is often referred to as Elizabethan English or Shakespearian English. The language in which Shakespeare wrote is referred to as Early Modern English, a linguistic period that lasted from approximately 1500 to 1750. In between, he created several other outstanding works, including the world’s famous Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Henry VI. ![]() His first play, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, was written between 1589-93, and the last one, The Two Noble Kinsmen, during 1613-15. He has written some great poems and over 39 surviving plays over a period of only twenty years. William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is without a doubt one of the greatest writers of the English language. ![]()

Whisperings solo piano concert8/29/2023 ![]() ![]() The flute is one of the oldest musical instruments of all and is regarded as the first ever wind instrument. ![]() Since the 1940s the French school with its ideal of a full and brilliant sound with vibrato has, quite literally, set the tone. Today there is a very clear movement toward international standardization of flute-playing style. Scientific studies have shown that it is of little significance a wooden flute can sound just as “bright" as a sterling silver one. When it comes to the influence of the material - wood or metal - on the timbre and response, opinions differ widely. In keeping with the trend for using original instrumentation for the performance of historical pieces, wooden flutes in the baroque and classical styles are once again being made in larger numbers. ![]() Many flutists prefer to perform contemporary works on the open flute because it is better suited to modern playing techniques such as glissandi and quarter tones. The corresponding tone holes are therefore not covered by cups but by the flutist's fingertips, which enables more effective control of timbre. Five of the keys on this flute are perforated. The open-keyed flute is also known as the French model or ring keyed flute. These pads are the instrument's Achilles' heel they are extremely sensitive to changes in temperature and dryness and are quick to shrink, which means they no longer make the tone holes entirely airtight. On models with closed keys, all the keys have cups fitted with pads of felt and gut. The modern orchestra or concert flute features the Boehm key mechanism and possesses either open or closed keys. By replacing it with a B footjoint B3 becomes playable as well. The C footjoint is standard with this notes from Eb4 to C4 can be played. The footjoint, a short cylindrical piece of tubing at the lower end of the flute, contains the tone holes for the lowest notes. Pulling apart the headjoint and body has the effect of a tuning slide: the overall tuning of the instrument can be lowered by about an eighth tone. The cylindrical body contains most of the tone holes and the keywork. The upper end of the headjoint is closed by the stopper, which is movable and enables slight adjustments to intonation. This slight elevation facilitates attack, which makes it especially popular with beginners. If the embouchure is set on a little plateau it is known as a reform embouchure. The lip plate and embouchure are set in the conical headjoint. The concert flute is an edge-tone instrument and consists of three pieces of tubing: the headjoint, middle joint (body) and footjoint. Keys/finger-holes: Boehm mechanism Open keys (French model).Tubing: Length 67-68 cm, mostly cylindrical, straight.Embouchure: Rectangular with rounded corners.Material: Silver, nickel silver, gold, platinum (less usually grenadilla, coco wood or a combination of wood and metal).Classification: Aerophone, edge-tone instrument without fipple, woodwind instrument. ![]()

Leg compartment muscles8/29/2023 ![]() ![]() One of the most common surgical approaches in orthopedics involving the anterior compartment of the thigh is the lateral approach to the femur. Identifying the correct nerves when performing peripheral nerve blocks is essential. Thorough knowledge of regional anatomy is crucial to operating safely, avoiding neurovascular injury, and correctly identifying intermuscular planes in the region. Knowledge of anatomy allows the surgeon to find the area of the pathology, and understanding of the origins and insertions of the muscles helps to find a tendinous portion appropriate for graft reconstruction. Its floor is also muscular, with the adductor longus occupying the upper part of the floor and the adductor magnus occupying the floor below it. It is roofed by a fascial layer on which the sartorius lies, and the medial and lateral walls are defined by the adductor muscles and the vastus medialis, respectively. The adductor canal is an important anatomical space of the anterior thigh region because it is a neurovascular conduit carrying the femoral artery, femoral vein, saphenous nerve, and the nerve to vastus medialis. The psoas major is innervated by the short collateral branches of the lumbar plexus (L1-元), while the femoral nerve (L1-L4) innervates the iliacus muscle. Both muscles insert onto the lesser trochanter of the femur. The psoas major originates in the lumbar vertebrae, and the iliacus originates from the iliac fossa of the pelvis. ![]() The iliopsoas consists of two muscles: the psoas major and the iliacus. The iliopsoas muscle does not cross the knee joint and is responsible for flexion of the thigh and lateral rotation of the hip. The pectineus muscle originates at the pectineal line of the pubis and inserts at the posterior aspect of the femur, immediately inferior to the lesser trochanter. The pectineus is considered a transitional muscle between the anterior and medial thigh this is due to innervation mainly from the femoral nerve and sometimes from the obturator nerve. The pectineus muscle is responsible for flexion, adduction, and medial rotation of the hip. The pectineus forms the base of the femoral triangle and is flat and quadrangular in shape. The sartorius originates from the ASIS and inserts at the superior, medial surface of the tibia, and it is innervated by the femoral nerve. The sartorius muscle is responsible for flexion of the knee and flexion and lateral rotation of the hip joint and is the longest muscle in the body. It is positioned more superficially in the leg than the other muscles in the anterior thigh the long parallel fibers run anteriorly from lateral to medial over the quadriceps. The two heads converge to join as the anterior part of the quadriceps femoris tendon. The rectus femoris is comprised of two proximal heads: the straight head, originating at the anterior inferior iliac spine (ASIS) of the ilium, and the reflected head, originating from a groove superior to the acetabulum. It inserts at the lateral border of the patella, forming the deep portion of the quadriceps tendon. The vastus intermedius originates at the anterior and lateral surfaces of the femoral shaft. It inserts at the medial base and border of the patella, forming the medial patellar retinaculum and the medial side of the quadriceps femoris tendon. The vastus medialis originates at the inferior portion of the intertrochanteric line and medial lip of the linea aspera. It originates from the greater trochanter and lateral lip of linea aspera and inserts at the lateral base and border of the patella, forming the lateral patellar retinaculum and the lateral side of the quadriceps femoris tendon. The vastus lateralis is the largest of the four muscles. The rectus femoris is responsible for thigh flexion at the hip and knee extension. It receives innervation by the femoral nerve. The vastus muscles are responsible for knee extension and stabilization of the patella. The quadriceps femoris connects to the patella via the quadriceps tendon, which then extends to insert at the tuberosity of the tibia. This group is the primary extensor of the knee. The quadriceps femoris is a group of four muscles: vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, and rectus femoris. Additionally, the end of the iliopsoas muscle passes through the anterior compartment. Three major muscles (better described as two muscles and one muscle group) comprise the anterior compartment of the thigh - the pectineus, sartorius, and quadriceps femoris. ![]() The function of the anterior compartment of the thigh is to extend the leg at the knee joint. ![]()

Katana zero stealth prison8/29/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() You’ll also have to complete a requirements checklist to reveal the game’s secret boss fight and face it. Once you finish your first playthrough, you’ll have to go through the game again to get some of the random achievements for certain decisions. To make encounters more manageable, you’ll want to use slow motion as frequently as possible, use Master Sword to kill enemies as fast as possible, and be prepared to die more than 1,000 times to get this achievement out of the way. After exiting to pick up where you left off, you can reselect Speedrun from the main menu. Thankfully, you don’t have to do it all in one sitting. Hard way increases the automated defenses of the levels, makes enemies hit harder, and spawns more brutal enemies much more frequently. This mode is exceptionally punishing, so don’t be hard on yourself if you die a lot. This will give you more tools to help even out the run’s difficulty and make sure that enemies and attack patterns stay the same throughout each try of the levels. When you get the menu to open, you’ll want to turn on the following options: Hard, Stable Seed, Action Only, Dragon Dash Max, Katana, and Factory. To get into Hard Mode, you have to beat the game once and start a new game in speedrunning mode. Achievements in this step:Īfter you finish your second playthrough, you’ll have to do a third on Hard Mode. Also, try to avoid using slow motion as much as possible, as the game’s timer still counts at an average speed while it is active. To make this easier, just run through the game as fast as possible without paying attention to any side content, especially the first levels that are easier. You then have to play through the game and get a gold medal overall for the achievement Gold Medal, so try and get as many platinum and gold medals as possible. I recommend using Master Sword for your run, but you can use any that matches your preferences. Achievements in this step:Īfter you finish the game, once you unlock the speedrunning mode, select speedrun mode from the menu, which will open up a menu of options to customize your playthrough, make sure to turn on Action Only, Skip Replay, Show Timer, and Death Count, and turn off Cutscenes. ![]() I would recommend running through the mission again in the first playthrough to pick them up rather than trying to get them during your second playthrough to prevent any of them from getting in the way of the remaining achievements. The mission choose menu is also beneficial for picking up any keys or random achievements that you miss along the way. These won’t seem to have any use when you first find them, but at the end of the game, they can be used to unlock a secret level that can only be accessed through the mission select menu. You’ll also have to collect multiple keys spread throughout the game during this playthrough. Just be patient and try to learn the game’s base mechanics as best you can to make your second playthrough on hard more manageable. Katana Zero can be very challenging at times, so there is a good chance you’ll need to try some spots a few times. If you have a hard time during any of the levels, they have plenty of checkpoints sprinkled throughout them to help you if you have a hard time with any particular section. You’ll want to play through the game for this step, killing bosses and grabbing collectibles to get the majority of the achievements out of the way. The first part of your time with the game is experiencing it naturally. This will ensure that you don’t miss anything during your time with the game preventing you from having to repeat levels or entire playthroughs more times than necessary. Before taking an in-depth look at how to get each of the achievements in Katana Zero individually, we need to look at the overall experience of getting the achievements. ![]()
